Status Quo

Especially true of the luxury industry, we tend to gravitate towards brands that are generating a desire in us based on the brand narrative they offer. Bags made in high street stores are perhaps more functional and practical however the logo conscious truly desire an iconic brand like Versace or Louis Vuitton. The desire to fit in with a certain crowd is the sole driver for often choosing the value a logo brings over the practicality of the product it delivers.

Advertising

Striking the correct chords with the consumer with your aesthetic is the ideal way to sell your brand over your product. Strategically placed logos in advertising evoke the emotion every time you see the logo and thus you are more attracted to buying a product or service for the nostalgia rather than buying for the quality of the product.

Endorsements

Another strong gimmick in the logo world is collaborations or endorsements. Endorsements often orchestrated by the brand, use memorable logos to allow consumers to begin aspiring towards it. With celebrity collaborations and influencers endorsing a logo or a brand, you are more likely to purchase it for all the different reasons except for the ones pertaining to the product.

All in all, more and more brands are using emotionally intelligent marketing tools to sell logos over products.
